Monahans Sandhills State Park, Texas

There is a small state park west of Midland/Odessa just off route 20…In the middle of texas there are sand dunes!!!  I’ve tried to find out more information like why are there dunes in the middle of TEXAS??? but can’t seem to find anything about why and how these came to be…  It’s really cool!    Having grown up on the beaches of Long Island it was a bit weird to climb to the top of the dune and see oil rigs and not the ocean!!!

  1. what an incredibly blue sky! There are dunes like that in Arizona too – I just assumed (as someone from across the pond) that you get dunes in deserts in the USA, I guess it depends on the wind?
